教學沙龍（總第3期）：Adapting Textbooks

    由教師教學發展中心舉辦的“教學沙龍”是由我校青年教師發起和主講的教學交流活動。教學沙龍選題有兩種形式，一種是以青年教師教學能力發展項目為依托的教學改革經驗介紹及交流；另一種是以教學工作中遇到的教學問題、解決策略為主題的研讨交流。每期沙龍有1—2位主講人，參與沙龍的教師共同就選題進行讨論交流，促進教學能力的提升。

    一、沙龍主題：Adapting Textbooks

    In this workshop we will look at the advantages and disadvantages of using textbooks, especially in relation to teaching reading. We will go into detail about how to make the textbook tasks relevant to the students’ interests and needs in order to make a productive and interesting task where students learn skills like skimming and gist reading,  that go beyond basic comprehension.

    二、主講人：John Cowley

    I graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a Masters degree in Classics, the study of ancient literature and culture through Latin and Ancient Greek. During my studies I also received a CELTA.   

    After graduating, I started my teaching career in the UK and Greece and then moved on to Korea.Looking for something new and different I decided to come to China to find employment at Jilin University.
